If you are doing the job yourself, however, you would need to dig an area that is deep enough to accommodate the pavers, the bedding sand, and the gravel base. You will need about 4 to 6 inches for the base, one inch for the bedding sand, and between 2-3 inches for the pavers, depending on the material you choose.
